Does silica and silicate mean silicon? If a primer has silica in it does that mean silicon? Please help I'm hopeless :(

So chemically they all have the same base but different reactive groups (hope I'm not getting to sciency on you) but the base structure of these chemicals is all the same hence the "sili" the different ending refer to a specific attachment to that base that is different for each chemical so silica is the natural form of silicon dioxide (commonly known as sand) and obvious there is pure silicon which is an element and silicate I believe has an oxidative reactive group so instead of silicon dioxide silicate is silicon hydroxide sorry if I just confused you more but in a word yes they all contain the chemical/element silicone
