I would use the banana powder instead.

Makeup Forever (aka MUFE) has a lavender & a green pressed, (perhaps loose, too,) powder. Better than white which makes you chalky and usually gets blotchy. The super faint green or lavender counteracts redness, so results in white....to make it more highlighty, I'd suggest using some champagne shimmer before &/or after. Oh wait you said matte... But, imho matte with a lil shimmer is still matte, just more highlighty, as it's light reflective quality deflects flaws and looks better in photos.
Hope this helps! Xo, :)m*

Banana is good, too, like Vincent Longo, as yellow counters red, too. But the MUFE has ability for more whitening effect. Also you could try a mineral makeup power. I've done this w inexpensive Avon (my mom sells it so I get it "free") & something from Sally's... Oh and don't forget the primer!!...any basic one will help w blotchyness, and also many brands make lavender &or green tinted ones to assist w this goal :)

Jacqueline is very right about not using lavender, just watch Edward scissorhands.
