So I'm 13 and where in from being tan is like the best thing and everyone always wants to be the tannest student or person. I'm getting kind of concerned about my skin :( I'm outside in the pool for 1-2 hours every day. Half swimming half sitting on a float tanning. Also, I wear SPF 25 sunscreen. So, is that still bad for your skin? I also use after sun moisturizer (: Thanks and also what else can I do to get a nice tan in the pool?

Because you ALWAYS have to wear spf, or your skin will be damaged to no end. you still get a nice tan with spf, I always wear it(:

Because sunscreen protects you against UV.. UV aren't the rays that tan you @PriaC.

Lol yes okay I was about to say I'm like really tan but I ALWAYS wear sunscreen cause I'm scared to get skin cancer even though it doesn't run in my family or anything @FreyaP.

Tanning only makes you get sun spots and early wrinkles with or with out SPF. Try spray tanning. Or the lotions.

Yeah tanning will never be good for your skin, but if you are tante already and always wear spf 25 I think you're doing better than a lot of others lol so just stat careful and you should be fine.

Um, tanning can also cause skin cancer. The sunscreen helps protect against the UV rays that case the cancer, but its still not good for you. And if you wear sun glasses while you tan then here's a fun fact: wearing sunglasses causes your skin to absorb more UV rays as your eyes are covered so t.

I don't wear sunglasses... I'm swimming so why would I wear sunglasses? Haha

Your Skin doesn't know how much protection to provide. http://www.skincancer.org/prevention/tanning/quick-facts-about-teen-tanning.

If you're fine with being at risk of skin cancer by all means tan away.

There's a chance it could cause cancer but there are also benefits from tanning.

The rays give you a LOT of vitamin D and also helps with acne and depression.

I bought a house at 39 (3yrs ago) just so I could finally have a pool. Its my slice of heaven on earth. I love to tan and use no SPF only tanning oil...smells like yummy coconut. Waited my whole life for it and I use it at least 4 times a week. I never tan my face though. I always use a baseball hat...even swimming sometimes. Depending on if I'm getting my hair wet or not.

Not if your under 18 its not good for your still maturinf skin
tabbing is not that bad if you take proper precautions and look after your skin, its much better for your skin then burning at the beach
however it can cause premature ageing
I wld suggest a spray tan its come a long way and looks natural
I work at a tanning salong

Ps : people literally need the vitamin d (which the sun and tanning beds both provide) to survive
everything in moderation

burning is what causes cancer and damages the skin cells irreperably

I would like to add that tanning in moderation with sunscreen is best and avoid tanning beds at all costs!! I'm paying for my perfect tan I had going to tanning salons for like 10 years and tanning with out sunscreen and I was actually at the dermatologist yesterday and had a chunk of skin surgically removed with a 4-5 inch zigzag line stitched up on my back in pain... So think twice and be very careful and always visit a dermatologist
