your hair grows up hard? don't know exactly what you mean but i have a question is your hair curly, straight, wavy? anyways i have thin hair and it can get full of tangles and knots. what i do is ( if its full of knots) i take a shower and shampoo and condition my hair now i use suave professionals shampoo and conditioner in rosemary and mint u don't have to use that smell i just think it smells amazing. so i do that then when i get out i use johnson's detangler no more tangles and that helps, but as far as your hair growing in hard i don't know what you mean by that um i wish you luck and hope i helped out some. :)

If your hair grows out very coarse or it has a lot of kink in it I would HIGHLY recommend using WEN cleansing conditioner. It will solve so much of your hair problems! It balances the moisture levels in your hair and makes it pretty shiny :D

Heres a tip i learned through having course curly thick hair. Stay away from shampooing!! I know that sounds strange but bear with me. You wash your hair with a good conditioner and only use shampoo wen you feel your hair is getting dirty. It really works. I use elvive products the one for thick course hair that has argan oil in it. I only use shampoo once a week! Then i wrap my hair in a towel, never rubbing. Then i use Argan oil and massage hair. I only get my hair cut once or twice a year. I dont get split ends coz i dry my hair naturally also. And while friends of my age 40 have cut their hair mine is still long and goin strong!

I agree with Annemarie. Do you shampoo everyday? It could be drying out your hair. You should try shampooing every other day for awhile until your scalp gets used to it, then every 3 days. Your hair my be missing the natural oils your scalp gives off :)
And have you tried Morroccan oil? My mom has the UNRULIEST hair, she' broken so many brushes trying to brush it. I gave her some for xmas and it just smoothes it out and makes it soft and shiny.

I love Dove nourishing oil care line. I wash with the conditioner every other day and once a week with the shampoo to remove product build up. I agree with @Sidra (pretty name by the way) We call that pre-pooing by coating the hair with oil before washing. I'll have to try the mustard oil. I usually use a mixture of sunflower seed, extra virgin olive oil and castor oil.

You're welcome and thank you as well. Coconut oil (unrefined) has small molecules that actually absorb very well into the skin and hair. Baby oil is basically mineral oil with fragrance which sit on top of skin and hair. I'll have to give mustard oil a try:)

Have you considered even starting from the inside out? It could be that your not getting enough nutrients needed for softer hair in your diet. You could always supplement the nutrients needed with hair, skin, and nails supplements or just add more dark leafy greens, lean meat or soy for protein, and more dairy into your diet if you're not lactose intolerant. I'm no expert. I can't tell you precisely what to eat and why, but those things are highly recommended for most situations related to the skin and nails which is very similar to the hair shaft. Also Vitamin E is a great way to get more moisture and luster back into your hair. You can take it by mouth or break a capsule open and rub it over your hair.
As for shampoos, depending on your budget...I really like Matrix's Biolage Moisturizing Shampoo. For the cheaper brands I would say try Garnier Fructis or Aussie. I don't tend to like Herbal Essences b/c it makes my hair oily (I have naturally oily hair) but you could try it for your hair type. Aussie's 3-Minute Miracle is a great super cheap and easy way to add moisture to you hair as well.
Girl, I have a ton of suggestions but don't want to leave a long as all get out post. Hope anything I or anyone else suggests help you. :)

For hair that gets really dry, I would try conditioner washes and products that contain a humectant. Check out 'Curly Girl The Handbook' and look for suggestions - you'll be glad you did. :)

@Sidra, I never really see results with store bought hair masks. I always like to make my own hair masks. My favorite is half a mashed avacado, 1 small jar of banana baby food, 2 tablespoons of honey and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. I mix it up and leave it in my hair for 45 minutes with a plastic cap on. I rinse with cool water then follow with my regular regimen:)
