Looking to try out a gradual tanner this summer and I've had zero experience with it so far. I'd appreciate recommendations of the best and any tips/warnings for problemsI might run into. I definitely don't wanna overdo it.

Jergan's gradual self tanning lotion. It's got a bit of a shimmer to it but it builds up really naturally.

Exfoliate really well before putting it on. I like the jergens one but there are many good brands.

I also really like the Jergens natural glow gradual tanning cream if you have an issue with the smell of natural tanner they offer a no odor version of it as well! It do have a bit of shimmer but I liked that about it and it looks really natural as long as you get the right shade for your skin, for example I use fair to medium. Goodluck!

Exfoliate before and remember to wipe the palms of your hands after! I use a face wipe rather than washing them so it doesn't wash off the backs of my hands :)

Thanks for all your quick responses! Looks like ima be trying Jergen's to start off :] Just one more question tho. Does it take awhile to dry?? Just concerned about getting it on my clothes. I can imagine thats a bitch to try to get out.

If you exfoliate all over then apply Palmers Gradual Natural Tan twice a week (I like to do it Sunday and Thursdays). It comes in a large tub with a pump, you get a lot for your money but beware of the smell! It's good but can be slightly overpowering so I suggest using it at night and walking about for a few mins to let it soak in. Works really good and looks so natural! :)

The jergan's gradual tanner dries fairly quick, about the same as their lotion. It's easy to tell when you're dry.

Jergens works so well! I used it for 2 days so far and I love it! And I only use fair to medium! My boyfriend thinks I went to the beach!! It takes about 5 minutes to dry, but I would say like 10-15 to completely dry before you can put clothes over, I usually apply mine at night (I take a body shower at night so I don't wash my hair when I don't have to) and exfoliate with olive oil and brown sugar, then I just wear dark clothes to bed after it dries.

Then when I wake up in the morning I shower and just gently wash my body with dove body wash and it comes out so nice! Very gradual so it doesn't look like I went on a vacation to the Bahamas over night! Lol I suggest not using it in the morning, you can but wear dark clothes, don't wear white or light clothes as it might come off and ruin your pretty clothes!

After I shower in the morning I apply my regular lotion and I can wear clothes that are light since it's summer time! And I exfoliate like every other time or every third time when I put on the lotion.

I deff wouldn't put it on your face though, even the facial one would probably clog my pores

@Murrin Palmers sounds great especially if it really is a good value! What kind of exfoliator do you use?

I used Loreal Sublime Bronze Gradual Tan and it works really well, it's easy to apply and dried fairly quickly. I got it in Fair and after one application there's a noticeable tan. It also doesn't streak!
