Anti-bacterial handwash plus an oil-based drugstore makeup remover. Or just spray with rubbing alcohol! great idea! so creative! but beware of old lockets that may contain metals/nickel/lead/rust that could leak into your lip balm. http://williamspromakeup.blogspot.co.uk/

Olive oil and dawn antibacterial soap. Mix your brushes in them on a plate and swirl them around in the palm of your hand under LUKEWARM (very important) water, then put in BrushGuards and/or a DIY brush drying rack to dry, vertically with the bristles down, overnight or until you can tell they are dry. When you have BrushGuards you can put the brushes in a cup (or a few, don't crowd them) and they can stay sanitary and dry properly. Good luck!

And wash/rinse them until the water from the is running clear am you don't feel any oil or soap residue.
