It follows the curve of your lid so nicely that's why! I could be wrong but believe cat eye is a nickname for the look, and the wingtip is a component of the look, that is, the pointy part that passes your lashline.

I do mine like that. :) I consider winged eyeliner to only be the upper lash line. When the eyeliner is around the whole eye, I call it a cateye. :) So, cat eye. It looks pretty!:)
