I don't like The color a lot to me it looks washed out and bland. I want to keep it brown, but just a different shade. Any ideas?

You could try one of the color enhancing tints that have hit the stores recently :) those kinds of things work especially well on brown hair.

Use the John Frieda Color Glaze for brunettes! It'll make your hair soft and shiny and really enhance your color. I use the blonde glaze and I loveee it.
