I need advice someone please...I'm wanting to put a portfolio together of my work...but every time I take a pic of my makeup it doesn't seem to look the same..help.

I'm mostly using my phone..I tried it in natrual light with a flash n then without a flash as well as inside in normal lighting w a flash.

Don't use flash get some daylight lightbulbs and create an area of lighting that projects light from all angles then start taking pics :)

Flash isn't going to be your best friend unless you have a diffuser or a bounce, which I don't think they sell for phones. Honestly, make sure you're taking pictures from the back camera, not the front. If the lens is lined up with the center of the face normally that means you're in frame.
But if you're looking to start a portfolio I'd look into getting a cheap point and shoot so you can get better quality. As far as lighting goes natural is best, or faking it with photoshop or another photo editor.

I would invest in an digital camera. This is for your portfolio and it should look as professional as it can. When I take pictures of my makeup, I use an actual camera. It comes out true and easier to edit if I need to photoshop a bit. I notice when I take a pic with my phone it just looks so different.

I was thinking the same thing Pamela..I'm going to look into buying a camera and adding and thanks to Erin and Jennifers advice on lighting I need to add some to my makeup area...I already tried it and the pics were so much better!...you ladies are awesome:-)

Check out Black Friday if you want a good camera for a good price. I bought a Nikon camera (which retailed for $275) for $150.
