Basically I can French braid other people's bangs, but when it comes to myself, I fail... When I do it, my braid does not start at the parting and not at my hairline but way back at me head.
How can I prevent that from happening?

Have you tried putting all the hair that you don't want in the braid in a pony tail while you braid?

Start at the part and don't loosen your grip at the base. Don't braid loosely, keep the sections right on each other if that makes sense lol.
