You should try heartless way to curly. For example night before but your hair in top bun. Spray some water on it. Sleep on it and the next day you will have soft, perfect curly hair compare to curling you hair with a curler. I have the same problem as but ever since I use heatless way to curly I found my solution.

Something you should try is pin curls. Section your hair off to curl. After you curl one piece, roll it up (it should roll the exact way it was curled) and then pin it to your head. Do that for all you curls, then cover your head with a silk scarf or shower cap and sleep on it. In the morning take them out, style an hairspray.

I've been doing the over night method with slightly damp hair section hair and wrap hair around sock or easier way wrapping around strips cut from old shirt and tie.

Braid your hair when it's still damp and you'll wake up with beach waves.

This is what I do with my Karmin Clipless and it might work for you. Put some light holding heat protectant spray on the piece of hair you're going to curl and wrap it around the barrel for 5 seconds or more. Not more than 10 seconds because you'll damage your hair. Then, pin up the curl and go on to the next piece of hair. Once the pinned up curls are cool, let them down and use a teeny bit of holding spray. Don't use too much product or it will weigh down on the curls and flatten them.

Also, keep in mind that if you want any shape to stay in your hair- it needs a foundation. Think about building a structure for a house. The walls won't stay up unless they have support inside of there. Start with a med-strong hold product on wet hair and blow dry it. You don't have to curl it that day but having it in when you do go to curl it will make a huge difference. ( I love bumble and bumble texture, or thickening spray or the new thickening mousse depending on which format seems easiest for you at home) make sure your hair is 100% dry before you use a curling iron. And DON't touch your curls while hot. Use your blow dryer on cold (ten minutes after you finish your last curl) to ruffle and loosen the curls. Hope that is helpful -JL.
