African Black Soap breaking me out?

I purchased some raw African black soap because of its good reviews with treating acne. Well, it's actually been breaking me out? Is this normal? Should I continue using it?

It may not be real African black soap. It has worked for me in the past. But it won't work for everybody. Discontinue use if you are experiencing adverse effects from it.

Sometimes you go through a "purge" stage, where your skin is trying to work out all the bacteria and junk through your pores. It could be that, or it is fake as Symone suggests. Is the acne similar to what you've had in the past, or is it bigger/worse?

There are many "black soaps" that claim to be original, but are in actual fact not the original soap from West Africa. Original ABS is totally organic with no chemicals. We've had great success in alleviating Acne, although it doesn't work with everyone. I suggest you verify that you are in actual fact purchasing an original product - it's appearance, fragrance and texture is unlike any other soap. Good luck.
