I kind if get two different vibes from the comment on this thread- that is, people are suggesting hairstyles that a silly caricature of a nerd would have, or a realistic hairdo that a bookworm would have every day. Depending on what you want (since it's a school spirit thing maybe you want it over the top) you should keep in mind that most nerds don't actually wear high pigtails. Think Amy from the Big Bang Theory ;)
