I've been considering dying my hair bright red and I've dyed my hair red multiple times, so I know all about the up keep. But I want BRIGHT red and I've been wondering about the l'oreal hi color? I'm not really sure how to use it and what developer to use and all of that. I don't usually dye my own hair so I'm sort of worried about that as well.
I had my hair dyed a redish color about 2 months ago now. I don't know if that will affect the color either.
Any help would be appreciated!

I love the l'oreal hi color. I got my hair dyed red professionally multiple times and it would fade so quickly and not be vibrant at all. I started dying my own hair with the l'oreal in the first week of august and I just last week did a little touchup, its still red!
It recommends you use a 20 developer but I used a 30 just because my hair was pretty much black before and I wanted a little more lift. I never dyed my hair myself until now and I'll never go back to a salon unless its something drastic.
You can do it, just measure out 1 part dye to 2 part developer for however much you may need for your hair.
I found the longer you keep it on your hair the brighter it will come out but also the more damage can occur, but 45 minutes is what the box recommends.

Hello :) I'm Catherine and I've colored my hair red before too, using the l'oreal hi color in magenta and red (I did a combo of the two) the developer you use all depend on your hair color from what I see in your picture you have very dark almost black hair which will be VERY hard to lift so maybe a 20 volume developer would work for you, if you hair is just dark brown 30 should be just fine. alls ya have to do is get one of those hair color mixing bowls and brush (you can get them at sallys) and use one or two tubes of the hi color ( I have a lot of hair so I used two) and do equal parts of developer mix together and apply to your hair. a few tips ONE use Vaseline to prevent staining your forehead because it will look awful TWO it will bleed out badly the first could washes just use a dark towel to prevent stains and don't sleep with wet hair THREE after you use the hi color and it begins to fade DONT use the hi color again to touch up jusy use box dye the hi color and developer will kill your hair, box dye will be enough to just touch up...I hope I helped! :)

I have my hair dyed red by loreal hicolor! I recommend a 30 volume developer (I used the loreal brand as well) and I dyed it twice because my roots and top of my hair came out way brighter than the rest of my head. Dye it then wait a day then redye it (just don't go over the bright red) and it should be good! I also recommend purchasing a red shampoo and conditioner, and some dry shampoo. Having bright red hair takes a lot of maintenance but its so worth it! Try to skip a few days between each wash because red fades EXTREMELY quickly.

Watch Nicole Guerriero's video on youtube..."How I got my hair from Dark Brown to Rhianna Red" seriously, that's what I went by and it helped a lotttt!
