It could be caused by iron deficiency. I used to have really bad dark circles that looked like bruises until I started taking supplements. They're a lot better now, but they'll still come back if I forget to take my supplements for a day or two. I suggest trying to add iron to your diet somehow. Something to try if all else fails.
