So my hair is dry, but I'm not sure if washing it with hot water any good for it? Speacially since I'm really trying to let it grow out.

Hot water just dries it out more. I have dry hair as well. The one time you let the water run hot is to open the follicles to recieve nutrients (shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner) but its recommended to use luke warm to cool water.

Wow really! That probably explains my dry hair, thank you!

Actually the whole follicles hot/cold water thing is a myth. It'll open it temporarily and very quickly so I wouldn't even bother using hot water at all. The only time I use something hot is a treatment I heated up and it's usually not too hot. Same thing with cold water. Water temperature does my affect how shiny your locks are. Hot/cold water in extreme is bad for you so I would stick to just a normal luke warm temperature. I wash my hair with really hot water because I enjoy it but my hair is nowhere near dry. Not has it ever been called dry or oily. But then again I don't use shampoo because it dries out hair and stick to conditioner and treatments.

I agree with Kitty. And warm water I feel is nessesary for clean hair when washing. I mean you wouldnt wash you dishes with cold water to insure cleanliness(:

Sounds good, Kitty K. What treatments do you use for your hair?
