I tried to line it up but it didn't look half as good as what I've seen and I'm new to lipstick so can someone help me please and thank you :)

I don't reccomend only lining the outer rim of your lips, when the lipstick fades off you'll be left with just the line around your lip from the liner.
Instead fill in your entire mouth with liner to leave a stain then apply the lipstick.
Also you can use concealer around the outside to create crisp lines.
And if you have smudges or don't want the highlighting affect of concealer use a silicone based primer and a qtip to clean it up.

It's also important to prime your lip with a lip liner ( lip balm or Chapstick work as well) before you line.
