DIY ombre hair tips and tricks!?

I've been debating on coloring my hair ombre for awhile now because I'm tired of the same color I've had for a year. I'm naturally really blonde but my hair color at the moment is Dark Black/brown. What are some good tips/brand name hair color I should know about before committing and actually doing this? :)

My tip is to not do DIY ombré. They turn out unblended and unfortunately not how people vision them to be. I can't tell you how many people come into the salon for us to fix their DIY ombrés. Yeah, the salon trip is going to cost you a little more, but in the end you'll get the result you want. Your current color is pretty dark, at home with lightener you'll most likely end up getting a brassy, orangey color, where at a salon a professional can help tone you to the color you want and achieve that desired end result :)
