my hair looks like this.
should I dye one color all over before I use the red that can go on dark hair from sallys
or
just dye it twice and hope for the best
or
dye the bottom close to my color
then use the red all over?

Honestly the only way to get a one tone red is to bleach it all the exact same shade. I had bright red hair for years (using the loreal hi lights for dark hair) and it was never even. You'd get brighter strands and darker strands mixed together. It's extremely hard to get an even color in anything, but usually it's harder to tell. If your hair is healthy enough try and get it all one color, but wait a few weeks before doing the red. It should work.
Quite honestly I think it would be really pretty with an ombre effect, but if you do that make sure to do your ends last to not damage them. Or use a veggie dye to do them without damaging (also a great way to touch up without damage!)
