I have hydrogen peroxide and coconut oil shampoo and conditioner, do you think I should mix the shampoo and peroxide? I've also used peroxide on my hair before and I have shoulder length thick thick hair.

NO. Hydrogen peroxide (although the salon one is a bit more concentrated than the first aid one) is used as a developer in the chemical hair dying process. What developers do is open up the hair cuticle as it lightens the hair so it can recieve the hair dye better. So, as you open up your hair by using peroxide, you expose it to damage. For example the sun, chlorine, etc. In some cases your hair can turn green or orange and it can leave your hair brittle and broken. If you're lucky, your hair will lighten and only get a bad case of split ends.. It is a million times better spending over a box of hair dye at the pharmacy than using household peroxide. You'll just leave your hair cuticle open and expose your hair to soooo much damage.
