I'm pretty new to make up. I just bought some new eyeshadows because I want to experiment (I usually just wear foundation & blush & call it a day), but now I want to go further into the makeup world.
Which brushes are MUST HAVES? I hear some have "lifetime guarantee", is that true? Is that good? To anyone who comments, thankyou:)

For eyes:
* MAC 239 (for packing on colour)
* MAC 217 (for blending or crease work; you may prefer something like the 224 for blending)
* Louise Young LY14 (love it for outer corner and stronger crease work)
* Louise Young LY38 (blending or soft washes of colour).

An angle brush is also a good thing to have at hand (I like the one by EcoTools). If you want to try gel/cream eyeliner, you can either use an angle brush (may be a good idea if you're new to it) or a dedicated liner brush (I like Sonia Kashuk's Bent Eyeliner Brush).

The MAC and Louise Young brushes cost a bit more; I know (particularly LY's since you have to order from the UK), but I think they're worth the investment.

For face, I like:
* Sigma F80 (I love it for applying foundation; you can also use something like a BeautyBlender sponge)
* e.l.f. Powder Brush (only $3; great for applying setting powder to the face, or for a dense blush or bronzer application)
* a largeish duo fiber brush for a softer blush application (e.g., MAC 187, Sigma F50, and Sonia Kashuk has one). You can also use an angled powder brush (e.g., MAC 168 or Sigma F40).
* some sort of concealer brush. You can go the flat route (there are loads of options out there), or you can go with something more dome-shaped or pointed (e.g., Sigma P82 or P86; some makeup afficionados like the MAC 224 to apply concealer).

Hope this helps some! :)

I don't purchase from MAC anymore, but the MAC 217 is the only brush that has worked for my hooded and uneven eyes when it comes to blending/adding colour in the crease. So that's definitely one of my favourite brushes.

For eyeshadows, I normally just use that MAC one, a Real Techniques eyeshadow brush and/or EcoTools little flat eyeshadow natural (it came in the five piece set)... and the little pointy brush thing (LOL! I'M AWESOME AT DESCRIBING THINGS, I KNOW!) for inner corner highlight. Brow highlight is really whatever I pick up. I've used tokidoki, another EcoTools brush, some Kat Von D thing. Whatever works.

Sigma F80 is AMAZING for applying foundation, it's a synthetic flat top kabuki. I also love using the beauty blender. Both really blend the foundation into the skin. But the F80 is a MUST have!

Sigma E40 is amazing for blending.

ELF kabuki face brush is what I use for my face powder. Cheap and gets the job done.

Sonia Kashuk dense blush brush is great if you like to have more control over where you are putting your blush, and I use it for contouring sometimes as well.

Sigma is probably my favorite brush brand :)
