Not knowing what career you're approaching... are you sure the purple hair would go over poorly? I did a job interview with hot pink hair once, and they said it made me memorable (got the job, and they rewrote the dress code to allow for my look). Now I'm back in school (science major) and, in spite of being occasionally redirected to the fine arts dept, I find that I get MORE respect when I'm professional and intelligent, because it comes in such an unexpected package.
If you're absolutely certain that your unique hair would get you shown directly out the door, just go back to sally's and find a darker natural color to cover it up. Try using the lowest developer you can find and cutting that with distilled water.

tee hee...love the purple hair..and love that you did it just because you can...well it all depends on what color you want to be in the end...if you want it close to your natural dark dark brown..i would suggest a glaze first...this would cover the purple, but the color only lasts 6-8 weeks so it would get you though your first meetings but the purple will come back in your hair...but this would also give you more time to deep condition your hair before doing a permant color...hope this helps...and good luck on the new you...xo sarahann

@Angela: I would love to keep my purple hair but where I'm from and where I will be working the people just don't understand! I've had people walk up to me and just stare! I don't wan't to let this opportunity slip away over my hair color so to be on the safe side I'll just change it! @SeceretlySarahann: Thanks! lol I'll try the glaze! Thanks for your help ladies!!

The manic panic should fade out in a few weeks naturally with washing, but it'll still be bleached. You could use the black manic panic color to cover it up (most of their dyes are vegan, plant based dyes and won't harm your hair further) or just re-dye it close to your natural color. Extra shampooing (3 or 4 times per shower) and hotter water will fade the color faster and make it easier to cover if you go the natural route. Depending on your hair type you might want to grab a good deep conditioner as well because of the bleach :)
