MYTH: shaving causes hair to grow back darker and thicker.
TRUTH: All shaving is, is cutting hair close to the skin. It does not change the thickness or color of hair.

Myth: blackheads are caused by dirt. To get rid of them, exfoliate.
Truth: blackheads are actually oxidized sebum that clogged up the pore. To get rid of then, use salicylic acid because it breaks it down. Excessive exfoliation can break the skin and create microtears and dryness that causes breakouts.

Myth: red lipstick isn't for everyone.
Truth: red lipstick is actually very flattering. It's about finding the right shade and tone of the lipstick to match the skin. Cool-toned reds are more universally flattering on every women.

What's a neutral red lipstick you would recommend? I honestly just started using lipsticks within the last 4 or 5 months and I'm kind of interested in always discovering new lipstick colors :)

Myth: using a facial scrub with sugar and strawberries will get rid of dead skin, clean clogged pores, and leave you with a healthy, dewy glow.
Fact: even people who are not otherwise allergic to strawberries can have an allergic reaction if the juice comes in contact with your eyes or the sensitive skin on your face! Never use strawberries in a facial scrub.

Thank you jacqueline! :D.

Heidi S. Strawberries are fine in a facial scrub if you're not allergic to them. Your 'fact' only applies to people with the allergy you mentioned. The 'myth' is correct otherwise.

Myth: Biotin is a miracle supplement that will magically make your hair grow fast and long.
Fact: Biotin should only be taken by people with a BIOTIN DEFICIENCY. Our bodies produce biotin. You ever hear people complaining that taking Biotin caused bad side effects for them? (weight gain, acne, etc). That's because they DON't have a Biotin deficiency, and their bodies are reacting to having excess amounts of the vitamin in their bodies.

Myth: your hair will not grow if you do not cut it.
Debunked: Your hair grows out of your scalp, nothing going on at the ends will change that. If you do not cut it your hair will APPEAR to not grow due to constant breaking.

Also,
Myth: Using a specific shampoo can keep your hair from falling out.
Fact: Your hair goes through 3 different stages, at different times. To have hair fall is completely natural (around 100 strands per day in some cases) and while I've not examined the ingredients, these new shampoos that are supposed to keep your hair from falling out seem to me as though they would be so full of wax they keep your scalp from doing what's natural. When a strand falls out, there is a new one behind it in the follicle waiting to grow.

Myth: nail polish expires. Fact: it does not expire. The chemicals inside kill any bacteria. It may get thick, but you can always add nail polish remover and its as good as new.

Not remover! Thinner lol sorry, nail polish remover will actually break down your nail polish over time.
