I was thinking about becoming a makeup artist/Hair stylist. Is it possible to get into both? I heard they don't make good money though :( Is it possible to live off of that career? thanks for reading this!:)

You can go to beauty school and get a cosmetology license to do both. But normally to do both without living in some place like hollywood where hair and make up artist are in constant demand, you'll need to work for a higher class full service salon. And it's not the highest paying career a lot of times, but it really just depends on where you live, where you work, and how large of a clientele you build up. But you almost never start out making a ton of money.

I'm a licensed cosmetologist and I've worker in CT and VT and even in the smaller towns you can make a lot of money if you're good at what you do. most important thing to me was that I was happy - and now since I've realised it I make good money and love what I do!

I don't know about the MUA side of it, but I'm a cosmetologist in a fairly small town, and because of circumstances, I really have no been able to build a clientele yet. I was at a salon for a few months, started to get a following then the place closed! Then at my current salon, was there for 6 months and I broke my thumb and I've been out for 7 weeks so far, so I know I got messed up again (only a couple clients are waiting for me)
So, to answer that part, no I don't make a lot of money as of now, it takes time. It's a labor of love in the beginning but as people see your work and passion they will come back.
