How do you know if your picking the right foundation for your skin color?

At higher-end makeup stores and counters, you can have them color-match you. They'll take a foundation and swatch it on your neck and tell you which color is the best match. Drugstore is a little trickier, because you can't test it. Luckily most drugstores allow you to return or exchange makeup products, so if you take it home and it doesn't match, you can exchange it for lighter or darker, whatever you need.
