You can buy biotin from drugstores like Walgreens. For the benefits, it not of helps your hair but your skin and nails. I haven't had any side effects! :)

I didn't have any side effects taking it I had healthier longer hair but in turn all the hair on my body started growing too lol

Biotin is a vitamin, so you would not have any side effects. I'm currently taking it and it works great! No side effects or anything other than faster hair and nail growth. My skin's also cleared up a bit, but I can't quite guarantee it's because of the biotin.
