Grunge is more dirty looking. Maybe a flannel and jeans or shorts with holes and grimy black boots. Kind of like a homeless person. :)

Anything studded would be modern, prissy grunge rather than the authentic thing. If you put any spikes keep it off the shoes and add it to the flannel or jeans/shorts.
