Lovely ladies! I need your expertise:
My lips are naturally super dark, which is cool cause from day to day I normally just sport lip balm on my pucker. Now, I'm starting to get super into lipstick especially light pinks and corals, but I'm finding that my colors don't look as true as I'd like. It seems that they appear darker than they should because of my dark lip. I would love to know what methods and products you use to prep your lips and get the most out of your shades. Pics/pictorials are welcome and appreciated! Thanks!

What brands of lip primer would you recommend?

Too Faced makes a good lip primer and I think ELF has one too :) Try using concealer to cancel out the color in your lips, or try using a powder to mute out the color (Lora Arellano does) and her lips always look amazinggggg.

Just put soms concealer or a little foundation on your lips and the lipstick will be true to color.

Enjoy the natural color of your lips. Wearing lipstick lip liner etc.will eventually make them pail and discolored

Grace- thank you! I will look into those. I've tried using powder and it really didn't do much, so I think I'll try a primer.

Patricia- thank you! I really have grown to love my natural lip color, despite being made fun of for it when I was younger; that's why I don't where lipstick often. I still want to at least have my lipstick done well and look right when I do where it though!

Thanks, ladies!

I use Lip Erase from MAC. Completely cancels out the pigmentation in my lips.
Its a Pro item but you should be able to snag it from the website or a Pro store. I tried the concealer route but I found it so drying.
