I love reading the tips and tricks. Ladies, you have to remember we are all different and all beautiful but, we don't all have the same hair. Some more course, some more manageable. Not every product will work in your hair.
Mayonnaise based products don't work in my hair. Neither does petroleum. Oils and moisturizing lotions are what my hair crave. That may not be the same for the rest of you. Some wash their hair frequently. My hair needs more conditioner (I keep my hair curly when I don't have it in a weave) I haven't flat ironed the back of my hair in about a year.
My night time routine when I wear my hair out is to quarter out my hair and soak in coconut oil and twist. My hair needs this because it is very dry. I stopped coloring and using texturizer about a year ago as well.
For females who wear weave, if worn correctly it can grow your hair. I've been wearing weave for about 3 years now and I've noticed a difference. I used to have very long hair until my mother relaxed it and let me start doing my hair. It became very dry and it broke off into a Bob. Now my curls are slowly working their way down my back.
That's my little story and through my journey I have experimented plenty with a lot of the products on the shelves. The best advice given is this: the natural the better. Processed, no. don't go to the hair store and purchase a lotion "enriched" with olive oil. Just go to the grocery store and buy the extra virgin olive oil. Don't buy the palmers petroleum coconut oil, buy pure olive oil. Anything in its raw form is good.

Same thing happened to my hair it dryed after my mom relaxed it an has been dry ever since. I never used weave but does it really help your hair grow?

My hair didn't break off after I got a relaxer. I got one at about 12 and I begged for it. but I was always good at hair. I did intericate twist ups and roller sets when I was in grade n hs. oh, and I didn't do a lot of heat... I think that's where most folks go wrong. I blow dried and curled it once and I didn't use heat again until the next wash.. my hair was shorter once I grew my relaxer out at 19 n last yr of college and my hair didn't break off during transition either. but once the new growth grew past my ear I cut my hair in half..from my bra clasp up to my shoulder. n soon I was all natural and after that it always stayed somewhere around my shoulder blades.
10yrs later I got a relaxer again last yr and I must say that I love it!. my hair is still curly when wet so I do curly ponytails n twist outs. but its easier to maintain for me. I have a toddler now (then she was still an infant) and I barely had time to shower let alone throughly comb thru wash n condition my hair.. with a relaxer I can do lot more. that's just for my hair. but I am an advocate for being the most natural you can be.
sew ins are great protective styles. but as mentioned. all hair is different. so I cannot get sewins. my hair grows way too fast and I'd need the braids redone every 2wks. in addition my hair locks very quickly in braids so if they aren't out in 1.5wks I'm screwed!.. I have friends with more course hair than mine N they can go for months with braids or weaves. but something about my coil locks quickly.I call my hair hybrid cause its very much its own gig..

The weaves have help my hair because I keep oiling it as it's in my hair. My hair has grown a lot. Trust me on that I do it so frequently too and have been flatiron free for about a year

My hair need texturizer but I won't do it. Every time I do it no matter how long I keep it on it doesn't take to my hair and it stays thick. I started using mango olive oil butter in my hair and that has made my hair so silky. My hair is currently in box braids but, I bought a Hawaiian silky product and a thick hair serum I will try when I take these out. My curls are very frizzy is some parts and don't know how to fix it.
