Yes it is really good to use on real hair brushes.

Another question: do I apply the baby shampoo directly to the brushes and lather up... or do I mix the shampoo and water in a bowl?

I like Dr. Bronners magic soap better than baby shampoo. Organic ingredients n takes out the tough stuff like foundation. Try it.

Has anyone tried cetaphil? I used it on my blending sponge and it worked amazingly.
