Yes it makes hair grow. I had my braids in for 3 months. I was by my neck and when I took it out. It was pass my shoulder. Remember everyone hair texture is different. So just because it doesn't help grow your hair doesn't mean it doesn't for another. Our hair is not all the same. We all come from different places. So remember that😊

I believe that if you keep braiding your hair often that it does help your hair grow cause I used to always braid my hair in a couple of braids and sometimes just two braids but I did it at night and slept with it in a lot and before I knew it my hair was longer it doesn't make it grow over night but it does in a few months

I'm African American, so in my opinion, YES.. It's worth it. It will give your hair a break and you can actually see the growth. You can also YouTube videos...

And I'm not saying it stimulates growth!! I'm asking if it will stop hair from getting shorter!! Omfg some people -_-

No offense to anyone but I wanted advice from women of color...I know that sounds bad but it's only because our hair texture and experiences are alike...

Yes, box braids, cornrows, Senegalese twists.. These techniques and more will help! Trust me! Just keep em in for a month or two and wash every week/two weeks and you'll see the grow out literally from your scalp! It's worth a try.

Yes they do the past month I had my hair in a side braid almost everyday and it grew about an inch and a half which may not sound like a lot but for me it is considering that's usually the amount my hair grows in 8 months.

I had my hair braided for about 2.5 weeks and it did actually make my hair grow. Because, Before that my hair wouldn't grow at all. It was really really short. It didn't even touch my shoulders. After I took the braids out I noticed my hair was a little past my shoulders. (Happiest day ever, to say) lol but I think because braiding doesn't break off your hair that's what helps it grow.

Braiding it pull its tight which apparently puts your hair into grow mode. I read an article on it I'm sure you could find it online. pretty informative.

No, but if you sleep while with a braid, it'll make your hair stronger.
Just put Castor and Coconut Oils in equal proportions and rinse off with an herbal shampoo :)
Do that once a week

Tasha: just because it prevents breakage, doesn't mean it stimulates growth.

Alondra: your hair will automatically look fuller and healthier after a trim! Layers that are too long can weigh your hair down... And flat hair is not cute!

Actually they do make your hair longer because it breaks less, I always have at least two inches extra growth when I wear braids.

No the braids thing is bull, just don't dye your hair or put any heat on it

@britanny. I didnt know dead ends weighed your hair down making your hair look dull. Cool fact, just right now I had trimmed my ends they werent damaged but I wanted to trim and my hair looks even better, thats cool!

No it doesn't, and neither does trimming. Both are myths. What you do to the shaft or the ends of your hair has no bearing on what happens in the follicle at the top of your head. Braiding will, however, reduce breakage and trimming will get rid of dead ends that weigh your hair down causing it to look flat and dull. Research suggests that sleeping stimulates hair growth, and oil treatments are certainly a good place to start. A lot of women take vitamin B pills or prenatals for hair and nail growth but its tricky because they can have adverse effects on some people.

Since there's less breakage your hair will grow evenly at the same time. Instead of it having dead ends and splitting and habing only a few long ends. braids will protect and evenly grow hair at same length
