I am going to the south for a wedding in June and I've never flown on a plane before. I want to take my hair extensions but I want to have them with me just in case rather than my suitcase. Can I put them on my carry on, or have them in my hair without the metal detector going off? Or having to take them out in public and embarrassing myself whether in my carry on or not...?

I wouldnt take chances with airport security, in case they take them away! Just keep them in your luggage no worries.

I'd pack them in your checked in bag. I've seen TSA refuse the craziest things.

Its not that big of a deal. I have gone through with them in. Yes they are going to ask and possibly check, but really is it that embarrasing? I am almost always pulled aside for something, my jewelry, a bra that sets it off, I mean its not that big of deal. They are not going to take your carry on away if they are in there. If you have never flown before you are letting yourself get caught up in all the "hype". Relax. Where them, carry them, it will be ok. I don't ever pack anything in my luggage that I DO NOT want to lose. There is a much higher possibility you will lose them that way. Relax and enjoy your first flight. And you don't have to take them out if you do wear them. Trust me, it is not that big of a deal.

I don't suggest wearing them if you don't want people to know your wearing extensions, airport security does bring you aside and make you take atleast one out to show them and sometimes they need to see them on your head too. If you could care less then go for it!

You'll be fine. There's not enough metal in the clips to set off the metal detectors. I'm a pilot and I go through airport security all the time (same kind of metal detectors the passengers go through), I never take off things like hair barrettes, my engagement/wedding rings, small earrings, etc. and I have never set off the metal detector.
