I'm going to cut 12 inches off of my hair and donate it to locks of love, and I have thick frizzy but slightly curly hair. I know what styling products to used to maintain the curls, but how should I have it cut? I cut my hair short one time and it just looked like a pyramid because my hair is so thick, and I really want to bring out my natural curl. Should I layer it? And if I should layer it, how should I ask the hair stylist to layer it?

Can you straighten it?

One word: Layers! Do not cut your hair when it's straight because your hair shrinks when it's curly! I'm a cosmetologist :)

How short do you want it to be?

I would say long layers!

Ask for rounded layers, those kinds of layers will not give you pyramid hair and will bring out the curl!

@Christina Well I wanted to bring out my natural curl. I got it chemically straightened last year and it's grown out to be about 15 inches, and the bottom 10 inches are wavy and a bit frizzy, and the hair from the middle to my roots is big and frizzy and curly.
@Kaitlin Okay! I'll keep that in mind! I want it to be above my shoulder, or shorter.
@Christa and @Megan Thanks!
