Drug store VS High end.

Over the past year I decided to stop splurging on expensive hair products and to start using drug store (mainly tresseme although I experimented a bit) I went to get a colour correction done last week and the girl could not do it because of how weak the products had made my hair.

Staying dark she recommended I get the new Biolage fibre strength shampoo. After 2 washes my hair is 100x better than it was last week! The drugstore products created a layer of wax that wouldn't allow the hair dye to take.

What are your experiences with each of these products?

I use Pantene products. I feel like Tresemme leaves a layer of film on my hair

I switched from Tressemme to Live Clean. My hair has never felt cleaner and softer.

As a stylist I see this everyday, how important it is to use quality professional products on your hair. It really makes a difference. Why would you spend $100+ on gettung your hair colored or highlighted but not spend a little extra and products that will improve the condition of your hair? I can tell a difference especially on the ladies I do bleach foils on, the ones that use moroccanoil shampoo and conditioner I can comb right through their hair easily and it feels silky and shiny, the ones that use pantene or tresseme takes me forever to comb through their hair because it all mattes together. And also the drug store brands fade hair color faster, then clients come back to me and complain that its my fault or they'll say that their hair doesn't hold color very good. It is important ladies to use professional products some brands aren't even terribly expensive if money is tight like redken but will do wonders for your hair and are always coming out with the latest technology or more high end moroccanoil is my favorite!

It's a little tricky for me. I'm black and have thick hair, plus I'm transitioning to natural hair instead of relaxed. The thing about this is, and with most black hair products, is that a lot claim to be one thing or miracle products but you look at the ingredients and its horrible for your hair and far from natural. I guess the only semi high end product I use is shea moisture. But other then that I get all my stuff at the beauty supply store or Walgreens as they've uped their black hair care section. I'm going to try Carols Daughter transitioning kit when my braids are out and maybe Ouidad when I get some length, but until then I'm good with my beauty supply store products.

I agree with Megan. Although I'm not a hair stylist and just a normal customer, but I experienced things with drugstore shampoo. I'm using J.F Lazartigue products and Phyto Products.
For my combination hair (oily on the roots and dry at the ends of it), drugstore shampoo just won't do it, I mean I'm using drugstore shampoo for years and never get a good result, but when I switch to high end, it doesn't even take months to see the result. You can see it like right away after your first routine with it.

It's like heaven and hell. If drugstore suit you well, I thought high end will be like 1000x times better.
