Maybe it's time to see a plastic surgeon that specialize in skin recruitment. Sometimes your insurance can cover if its a medical necessity.

I'm very sorry anyone would have the nerve to speak to you that way! Please don't let other peoples foolishness ruin your quality of life. It only shows how ugly they are on the inside, which in my opinion is a much better reason to hide yourself than some scarring! It makes me sick to think someone would treat you that way so please try not to give their words anymore power by dwelling on them.. So anyway. I agree that over the counter stuff really sucks. When my mom had surgery they prescribed her a scar fading cream that worked a hundred times better than any over the counter thing either of us had tried. So I think your first step is to take a trip to see your doctor. Your regular care physician I think would be ok at first because they can recommend you to a good dermatologist or maybe prescribe you something that actually works and at least that way you can feel safe to know youre in good, educated, hands. Otherwise the advice I would give is to exfoliate regularly. That should help slough off the dead skin in the upper layers and spur cell rejuvenation. You could probably do anything from a home made oatmeal sugar scrub to one of those fancy microderm abrasion wands. Don't go too crazy with it though, I don't think thats good for anyones skin. Drink tons of water and wear sunscreen when you do go out. I've also heard of things like lemon juice being helpful but honestly because your scars are already severe I wouldn't even bother with internet myths and go straight to a professional. Talk to them and be brutally honest about how if affects your life so they are motivated to give you the best help possible. they may even suggest laser treatment or fillers, which I don't know your financial or insurance situation, but it could change your entire life!

Ask your doc why he hasn't suggested lasers, fillers or other surgical methods.. Sorry I wish I could suggest a good foundation but I'm still struggling to find something I like myself :(

If you are still breaking out, you need to take accutane to prevent further scarring. I had awful acne and now my skin never breaks out. I didn't have much luck with lasers for scarring. Maybe dermabrasion??

My grandmother is a holistic specialist and she said its time to prob look at your diet, and cut out anything processed which is a lot of things I know but it might be good idea to try a new diet. My sister had to stop eating candy bars and penut butter and her acne started to clear. And she got and allergy test done.

I was bad and did take accutane. Didn't work great. I silk break out on occassion. Derms gave me steroid patches for my skin, these helped slightly. I feel your pain. I have been called gross in public. Witch hazel and lavender oil helped fade my scars and helped new skin grow. I agree don't lose hope. I've been there for years and was able to fade my scars who makeup covers them easily.

Allie what kind of steroids? any serious side effects? my derm informed me if I go see a plastic surgeon for filler he will no longer see me. he dosnt think my skin is bad enough for any other treatments like that. I travel almost a 100 miles to see him so I can't go anywhere else unless I go about 280 miles :(
