Are you sure you have combo skin? Sometimes when people have dry skin, their oil glands will overreact to try to compensate for this by producing way too much oil. I used to think I had oily-combo skin because I had the same issue but I came to found out that I have normal-dry (with oily areas sometimes due to hormones). Just something to consider.
As for product recommendations, I like the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer because it doesn't make my skin look completely matte like I'm wearing a mask, but it just looks natural and helps with redness too. The Smashbox Hydrating Primer (can't remember the exact name, sorry, but it's blue) doesn't have that gross silicone feel like their original primer but it works great. The Sephora brand primer that Alma mentioned is a good, less expensive option. If you're able, get samples before buying so you can see what works. There's nothing worse than trying a product in the store, loving it, and then finding out that it doesn't work after you buy the full size. Good luck!

I had the same problem and tried everything, but nothing lasted the entire day. I recently started using milk of magnesia (Phillips) as a primer. I know it sounds crazy since it's a laxative, but heard about it and figured for $2/bottle it was worth a try. I dip a cotton ball in it, spread a light layer onto my face, and wait until it dries. Once dried I rub in the white film it leaves behind and then apply my makeup as usual. It's absolutely amazing! Can't believe I spent so much on primers when this was all I had to do! Makeup stays in place all day and I don't even need oil blotting sheets anymore which I always used constantly! Really can't go wrong with it considering it's so cheap.
