It seems BB creams are for those working with good skin to begin with. From what I've seen they only offer very light coverage, which is good if you're not trying to cover any scarring or moderate skin discoloration. I am trying to cover old, all-over acne discoloration (I'm 40)...should I look into a BB cream as an adequate foundation alternative or keep it movin? Your thoughts please :-)))

That's US BB creams, not the Asian ones. I swear by Skin79's Hot Pink Super Plus (Korean) and I'm oily, acne-prone and aging. I get great coverage and my skin has visibly improved. It lightens dark spots and wears great. Sephora carries the Dr. Jart line from Korea, and that one is nice as well.

Hmmm the one I use blends into my skin but I'm pretty fair. Not sure on shades though. I don't think Skin79 does, but I think Missha does. Check the Bb Cream Queen website. I'm sure she has info.

I totally agree with Bonnie R. Asians got it figured out and have had it figured out for centuries. I'm not sure I really understand this BB and CC hype is all about. I'm 48 and BB's just turn to grease on me, no matter how I prime, or apply, or set. Grease pot!! But I believe that the Korean and Japanese cosmetics are far better. And don't even get me started on skincare and the AMAZING sheet masks. Oh my goodness.!! Any way I buy some things on Amazon.com, (sheet masks, body lotions, cleansers), and my favorite site for skincare and cosmetics is www.sasa.com. They have some recognizable names but the best products I found are by "Sana" and "Baviphat". Did I mention the sheet masks!! It may be a bit more complicated than running to the department or drug stores. But I think I have found something well worth it, I don't have the confidence and self esteem that I used to, but, thanks to the beautiful skinned Japanese and Korean cosmetic lines, 48 doesn't seem ti look so bad.

On a quick google this morning it looks like Iman's is getting good reviews, and Smashbox CC (though it may not be dark enough). Hope this helps!

Totally agree with Bonnie and Kimi, the US BB creams leave a lot to be desired!! I've been using Skin79 for a few months now and it is probably the only product I will absolutely use until the end of time haha it's amazing coverage that's build-able, packed with nutrients, high SPF, and isn't expensive!! Definitely a HG product :) the ONLY downside is that it is only formulated in one shade primarily targeted for fair/Asian skin tones. But, if I had a darker complexion, I would probably still use it mixed in with foundation or something. It's THAT GOOD for my sensitive, dry, breakout-prone skin!!
