What works for one person, won't always work for the next. I would steer clear of tanning out doors and or a tanning bed.
instead try a self tanner. my favorite is St. Tropez mousse! it really works! and you can go over the same spot as many times as you want and it doesn't get darker(I wouldn't recommend doing so simply because you're only wasting the product). it doesn't streak, and it doesn't have that awful self tanning smell that some products do.
some people have said that jergens daily glow moisturizer is wonderful too.

I absolutely love the Maui Babe Browning lotion! It's a tanning accelerant that you put over your sunscreen! It's made up of natural ingredients and does wonders! I picked it up in Hawaii for the first time and it was magic. You can find it at Ulta! If you're looking for self-tanners, a great beginners one is the Jergens natural glow moisturizer(I'd recommend the medium to tan skintones because it's less orange) or the St. Tropez mousse which is pricey!
