I use WordPress but keep in mind that they won't let you make money off of your blog with advertisements until you have a large following, whereas Blogger lets you use Google AdSense to start making money right away, I believe. Both have good interfaces and are pretty user friendly!

I've been wanting to do this too, think about intertwining all the social media, if you can, register your domain name on both blogspot and wordpress, just to make sure there arent any others, make a fb page with the same name, make a twitter account with the same name, maybe a youtube account with the same name, and anything else you can think of. Even if you don't use every single format, it is best to just make the accounts so nobody else can take the name. And eventually when you get more in to it you can intertwine all the accounts to reach a large following. Xxx

Blogger is great, but google adsense are getting tougher now on ads! You need a good following, like about 3-4 months' worth of solid hits. I use blogger and it is really intuitive.
