Buy a small bottle of hand sanitiser to take with you and use between each client, also a big packet of disposable sponges to use on each client.
Take a concealer pallete with a range from really light ivory to sandy colours to dark browns. This will be your best friend.
Take a few different foundations, make atleast one of them light-medium coverage.
Have dark powder, bronzer, transluscent powder, and blush. Just be prepared for anything.
Have tissues, different kinds of brushes, an eyeshadow palete with a big range of colours, waterproof mascara and eyeliner, a small hair comb, bobby pins, hair clips, moisturiser, lipsticks, hair dryer, makeup removers, baindaids for your feet, etc.
When I did my first movie I brought a huge bag of things with me and its a good thing I did because the other makeup artist who was also a hair stylists cancelled at the last minute and I was left doing everything.
Find out exactly what is needed of you before the day and see if you can get pictures of the people you'll be working on so you know what coloured foundations to buy.
Even if its a non paying student film they should still compensate you for the materials used so talk about that before hand.
And if the men have bald heads don't forget/be afraid to cover all their head and back of neck with foundation and powder.
Also take a lots of pictures with your camera of the work you do!

Also ask to read the script before hand so you can prep on what you need to do.
