My advice based on my experience with my own body modification and such:
1. It's close to impossible to steralize a needle at home without the proper equipment. That being said, most often, basic self done piercings such as an ear lobe heal depending on how you care for them. So, take care of them, and they should heal.
Info you should know:
---Do not use alcohol, peroxide, neosporin, or bactine to clean. Use unscented dial soap, non iodized sea salt soaks, castile soap, or anti-microbial soap! A GREAT castile soap is sold at Taregt in liquid and bar form. It's by the brand Dr. Bronners and the lavender is great for soothing a healing piercing! It cleans the wound without stripping away the natural oils from the skin!
---Do not twist the earing! Many people are told to do this but it's not correct. Wehn you twist the earing, you are simply ripping at the healing tissue and causing un-nessisary trauma to the piercing site, which could lead to some nasty scars or tissue build up in extreme cases.
---Remeber that this piercing will take about 3 to 6 months to heal. Piercings have what are called "flare ups", which is when the tissue suddenly becomes sore, red, and irritated out of seemingly nowhere. This is very normal and is not an infection. If an infection is present, you will be able to tell based on if there is puss, and what the colour of the puss and tissue is.
Hope that helps! I sort of went into rant mode a bit there, haha. =]

If you can twist it around, it should be fine. :)

I never knew that emily, thanks! I just got my cartilage done and the lady told me to do that. But I'll stop immediately.
