So when I paint my nails, the polish usually peels off in one strip. I use a base coat and top coat. Does anyone know why this happens or how to prevent it? Please help!

Possibly an oily nail bed? Try wiping your nails with polish remover before. Possibly not letting each coat dry properly? Maybe applying too thick? Do you buff your nails to be smooth or with a fine grit before you polish? If its smooth it will peel in sheets, can try a fine grit file one or two swipes just to add some texture to the nail bed for the polish to "grip"

Also the brand...cheap polishes or base/top coats will change the wear. And dependent on your natural oils and the polish they could just not be a good combo, maybe try a different brand? I have the same issues you have and either use Essie or OPI and have less of that issue. Most of the time I wear gel polish tho.

I use opi, or ciate. I don't buff my nails, they are ridged though, they are dry so the oily nails aren't an issue. Maybe I apply too many coats?

Maybe. I don't usually use a base coat and try to do 2 thin coats...depending on the color you may need more...and then I take the brush and with minimal polish and run it along the edge and corners to "seal" it, I do 1 clear coat and then "seal" it again with the clear coat.

This sounds crazy but my Aunt swears that both of my female cousins can't wear nail polish because of something like a chemical that is in their nails that just makes the polish fall off, maybe you have something like that?

That happens to me to it usually means the nail polish is too thick

Your pH could be off too, try using a pH balancing product, they are commonly used as a prep for gels but can be used for regular polish too.
