Problem With Matte Lipstick!

I recently brought illamasqua lipsticks, there very matte. Whenever I use them they look like I've used chalk on my lips. It sits in the creases and looks so yuck. I've tried putting a lip gloss on top but it separates and looks worse! Any tips for what I should do?

I agree with rebecca j. and you may also want to use a lip prep and primer along with a lip balm.

In addition to what these wonderful ladies suggested I read either on here or a blog that the best way to put on matte lipstick is to pat in on and build up the amount you want or use a synthetic hair concealer brush. The latter is the method I use and it works great.

You should exfoliate your lips, hydrate them with a lip balm that is light and hydrating (versus heavy and greasy), wait a few minutes for the product to absorb, and then apply a lip primer (I.e. Too Faced Lip Insurance).
