So, I have dandruff. I get it all over my scalp, but the most itchy/problem areas are at the base of my head along the hair line, behind my ears and the crown of my head. I don't have an oily scalp or hair; I can go 2-3 days without washing. It doesn't feel unusually dry either, which I thought was weird (isn't scalp dryness the cause of dandruff?). I haven't always had this either, it started probably around 5 or 6 months ago. I can't think of anything I changed or did that would be the cause. I don't use a lot of products or heat style often and use Pantene shampoo and conditioner. I don't want to use T-gel or anti dandruff shampoo, because of the harsh chemicals and I've also seen some with cancer warning labels :/ I would really prefer something natural. It really sucks because I have dark hair, so it's noticeable and I have to wear all black for work. I really want to rid myself of this annoying and embarrassing problem! It's so frustrating :c Any advice would help, ladies, please!

I deal with the same problem as you and it really truly does suck! I have tried massaging olive oil into my scalp about once every two weeks. I find that everytime I stop using it, the dryness comes back

I just got my haircut today and the stylish told me that I just need to be extremely thorough when scrubbing my scalp when shampooing and rinsing my hair. So today I took an extra 2 minutes and really scrubbed my scalp, especially in the problem areas. Not with my finger nails, just the tips of my finger and I massaged my scalp as I rinsed and with my detachable shower head put it on the the massage setting and got it close to my scalp. She also said to rinse my scalp with cold water at the end of the shower, which I also did. I had a lot less flaking today and am not quite as itchy. I plan on getting the John Friend Root Awakening shampoo and conditioner because she said to stop using Pantene and go for something a little nicer and also something with tea tree oil or mint and it has both. You can always buy those oils separately and add them to your favorite products.
