Okay what ever you do don't use permanent! It is horrible! Semi permanents will be hard to see as no strong chemicals are used , your best bet is going to the hairdressers who specialise in Afro hair as it can become extremely dry with home kits , and get them to lighten it and put colour in for you , be careful I regret dying my hair , it's so thin and bald at the back and just doesn't grow

You will only get a slight tint with semi permanent coz your hairs so dark. Only way to do it brighter/lighter is either bleach it and then use semi permanent or just but a permanent box dye over it, you won't be able to go lighter but you could get quite a vibrant red colour for example =]
