I had it when I was preg both times and it faded away over time.. Like a year-two :( nothing helped cover it and when I go in the sun it comes out.. You can try a lighting cream go to sephora.. I didn't use any because I was nursing full time and partially an now too.

Np. :) sometimes the best remedies are made in the kitchen. ;) FF its right, it does get worse either in long exposure to sun, or pregnancy. I would think anything that makes you more comfy with yourself is worth the effort. :) You look fabulous, and honestly, the first pic it didn't really show.

@Jessica thanks for the input...I am so self conscious of it I feel like my face looks dirty.

Laser skin resurfacing can help break down the pigment that makes up melasma, if that is a route you are willing to go! Some laser facial treatments like Intense Pulsed Light can sometimes make the melasma pigment worse rather than better, even though the results for sun damage type pigment are amazing with IPL Treatments. Also a prescription cream called tri luma is also something that helps melasma over time. It takes some patience, but the results can be pretty incredible.

But Seph, yours is NOTHING in comparison to what I have seen in my line of work. Not even close :)

Your melasma doesn't even look that bad! I have it on my upper lip which is the worst spot possible :( makeup does not cover it up and I've tried so many lightening products that don't work. What kind of makeup do you use to cover yours?
Mar 24, 2013

Thanks Kathryn l. @Amy p. I use clinique continuous coverage...it's full coverage foundation. I also use lemon juice to lighten the darkness.

Awesome I checked out the foundation online and see it only has 4 light shades and I am brown skin I don't think those will match :( but will definitely check out a clinique counter for help. Do you apply lemon alone and leave it on your skin? does it really help? I heard lemon can burn the skin because its so acidic.

They should have more of a variety not sure on that...I use fresh squeezed juice and dip a cotton ball in and apply all over my face...I leave it on for about 10 minutes. it does burn a little, but of it is too strong you can dilute it with milk, which also has a lightening ability to it or egg white.

Amy I had on my upper lip too and really NOTHING covered it and I tried everything:( it's prob the worst spot to have it cuz you can't just throw some hair on it or cut bangs to hide it lol looked like I had a mustache all the time.
