I was wondering if anyone knows an easy way to dye black extensions to a medium brown without damaging them?

I have dark brown hair (unnatural) and I tried to dye my hair lighter and it's gone a bit lighter but not very so I don't know but I stupidly forgot about my roots and now I have orangey coloured roots lol but I don't know any other way
