I have always heard that it is better for your hair to be dirty when you color or bleach it, is this true? I, like many other girls on here, go multiple days without washing my hair, and I always feel kind of bad about it when I go to get my hair done. I go get my hair done next week, and I was just doing the math to see where I'd be in days without hair washing when I go to get it done, and it is my last day before I would wash it (I've been doing three days without), should I courteous and wash it the day before?

If it's too oily your hair might not get the color well, from what I heard.

I thought it was better for your hair to be clean (only shampoo, not conditioner) in order to be more porous and take the color?

In cosmetology school I was always told that is a myth. that just makes more gunk for the hair color to go through in order to get to the center of your hair.

Thanks Hali, what do you suggest I do? I hate to wash it that morning and get washed again (at least twice, doing bleach then color), do you think washing it the day before would be fine?

Yeah the day before will be fine.

Clean hair is better with no product in it. When oily or dirty the color won't take well. :-)

Naa that's not right, I think the truth in it though is that your hair should have a balanced PH level when you dye it. you should wash it with baby shampoo before hand and don't use any conditioner or product =]
