If your going anywhere warm then on the firs day use sun cream and stay in the sun only for a while, after that use olive oil on your skin it attracts the heat and gives the perfect tan <3

Stay away from tanning in the sun because you know... skin cancer.
There are hundreds of lotions with built in SPF AND self tanners/bronzers, that would work perfectly fine. Sitting out in the sun with oil on yourself is how my mum described they did it back in the day, which causes spots, premature aging, skin cancer and just a whole ton of wrinkles. It also breaks down your elasticity, making your skin less plump and youthful.
Moisturizing is also a big think for the summer time. It helps if you burn easily, and can keep your skin, especially your face balanced so you avoid looking patchy or oily since sometimes the heat and the sun can be extremely irritating to skin. Find moisturizer (as well as makeup) with a fair amount of SPF in it, and don't forget your lips as well, since the skin is sensitive and can most definitely get sun burnt.
Beach waves can be done with a sea salt spray. You can purchase some or opt for a cheaper DIY version, using a spray bottle, sea salt, a little gel and a few drops of moisturizing essential oils (let it air dry or sleep with it slightly damp in braids, bantu knots, or a top bun) Lastly, you can do this with a heat tool, similar to a crimper, the Conair You Wave makes fantastic beach waves and the thing costs around $30.
Is there anything else specific you would like to know? That's all I can think of at the moment. :P
