Hey there!

So I have a big problem on my hands and its the rats nest that my hair has become. I had a baby 5 months ago and during the pregnancy my hair grew about 6-7 inches. Started from just below my shoulders and now it's 3-4 inches past my bra line.

The length is great and I have been growing it out for 3 years now. I stopped dying it last year - so the ends are rough & dry and my roots are a healthy as can be.

The problem is, it's been falling out in handfuls for months now. And it's 100% unmanageable. Oily, tangles (more like mats), brittle-straw-like-ends and lifeless.

I've been a tomboy for a good portion of the time that I should have been caring for my scalp. I'm afraid I have very little knowledge of shampooing/conditioning, different brushes & their effects and how to have healthy hair.

For shampooing/conditioning. I do both every time I shower (mama taught me well, right?) and I know that's only doing more damage. But at this point - if I don't, it because down right unruly and gross. Oil-slick & heavy.

So ladies - I'm asking you for help. I know I need to get it trimmed, badly, and that will do miracles to it. But! After that - what should I be doing to tame this dry/oily, tangled & destroyed mess? Also - it's not curly or coarse, just very fine & I have a lot of it which makes it thick. Straight and gross. Lol

I'm a single mom, so the budget is pretty tight. And I prefer to be as "natural" as possible when it comes to products - steering away from the harsh chemicals. I'm just not sure which products really do what they say they will - ya know?

Anyway - help me. I'm so close to chopping if all off - pixie cut. 100% virgin hair sounds like an amazing fix.

I use to do this before : after I condition or shampoo my hair or whatever I would rinse it with chamomile tea and Then just leave it to dry

I have a similar problem, gave birth few months ago and my hair is falling like crazy! Handfuls every time I touch it. Tried chamomile tea, also tried vinegar rinsing ( read about this on a blog) and argan oil. No result!:(

If it wasn't so long the falling out wouldn't bother me. But with over 24" strands.. They get caught everywhere. It's disgusting :/

Oh, I know. I read that too. But, I feel like the overall health of it has just gone to complete crap. I have absolutely no luster. Tori - my pregnancy was problem-free & delivery was smooth and easy. And my baby boy - max - is absolutely adorably and as healthy as can be :)

There is a stage after pregnancy where your hair falls out. During the second stage of pregnancy your hair grows thicker and faster, it stays like this till about 4/5 months after birth. Then all the built up hairs fall out! It happened to me, and freaked me out too. Like almost handfuls of it, went to the hair dresser and she explained it. My son is a year, and my hair has stopped falling out now :) I just made sure I kept up hair care, brushing everyday, shampoo and conditioner after wash. It will stop, and you will have plenty of hair left, it is scary though!
